| John Thomas was elected on
November 7, 2006, to serve on the Melbourne City Council as your
representative for District 4. His current City Council term will
continue to November of 2010. He was appointed in November of 2008 by
the City Council to serve a one-year term as Vice Mayor, and has also been appointed by the City
Council to serve on the Airport Authority that governs operations of
the Melbourne International Airport.
District Four covers an area that begins
north of the Melbourne International Airport and extends south to Palm
Bay Road. Babcock Street serves as the district's primary border to the
east and the city of West Melbourne is the district's primary border to
the west.

Vice Mayor Thomas is employed at Florida Institute of Technology. He
previously worked and coached at Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy and retired from law enforcement after
a fourteen year career with the Melbourne Police Department.
Education and Training: Vice Mayor Thomas attended Brevard
Community College and is a graduate of the Brevard County Law
Enforcement Academy. He attended the United States Department of Justice
- Drug Enforcement Administration's Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Law
Enforcement School where he was the recipient of the Scholastic
Achievement Award. During Council Member Thomas' law enforcement career,
he received specialized training by the United States Customs Service,
United States Secret Service, and Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
