Thanks for visiting the web site of the Melbourne, Florida, Police Department.  Over 265 law enforcement professionals in our Department are dedicated to providing modern, efficient police services. Melbourne is the economic and financial center of southern Brevard County on Florida’s fabulous Space Coast.  The workday population is estimated to be over 100,000. 

Melbourne’s sub-tropical climate attracts numerous part-time residents and visitors, especially during the winter months.  Melbourne’s crime rates are relatively low for a city of our size and the quality of life is unsurpassed.

The Police Department is diversified with such specialties as S.W.A.T., Marine Patrol, K-9, School Resource Officers, and many more, as you will see in the department's web pages.

BEHIND THE BADGE:

  The Chief of Police and guests have since 1991 appeared on a television program to offer information about law enforcement activities and related topics. 'Behind the Badge' is aired on Bright House channel 49 (NASA), Mondays at 7 p.m, and Wednesdays at 6 p.m., and Fridays at 8:30 p.m.

The Melbourne Police Department is dedicated to the citizens of Melbourne and their quality of life.  Department personnel work closely with business partners, neighborhood watch groups, and community leaders in an effort to reach mutual goals and foster a strong, committed partnership.

Two police facilities are available to assist citizens who may need our services.  Our headquarters building is located at 650 N. Apollo Blvd., and the Communications and Criminal Investigations Divisions (CCID) building is located at 701 S. Babcock St.

NON-EMERGENCY INCIDENT REPORTING

(If you have an emergency or an incident requiring immediate medical, fire, or police response, DIAL 911.) Citizens with non-emergency situations have a method for submitting reports without first waiting to meet with an officer. Choose between two methods for providing a report: 


CHOICE 1:  
If you would like to use the online form that allows you to fill-in the blanks, use the ONLINE REPORT FORM. Once you have filled-in the form, you simply click on the 'submit' button at the bottom of the page to send it to the Police Department.


NOTE: Before using the report form available on the Internet, contact the Communication Center non-emergency number, 321-409-2200,
to learn whether your incident meets the criteria for using the online form.

CHOICE 2:  
Also available is a report form that can be downloaded and printed out. The form can then be either mailed or faxed to the Melbourne Police Department. If you have "Adobe Reader" on your computer, click here to access the form

If not, you will first need to download and install the free "Adobe Reader" software in order to view or print the form.  Use this link to reach the page where "Adobe Reader" can be downloaded.

Mail the completed form to the Melbourne Police Department at 650 N. Apollo Blvd., Melbourne 32935, or submit it by fax to 321/242-0795. The submitted report will be reviewed on the following business day, then entered into the records system. You will be contacted to verify your information and/or to provide additional information if necessary.
