The Melbourne Police Department has
created a Sex Offender Tracking Unit in response to Melbourne City
Ordinance 2005-119, which includes requirements for registration
of convicted sexual offenders and predators with the Melbourne
Police Department. (This page was updated on
Jan. 7, 2010)
The ordinance, approved on December 13, 2005, is part of an effort
to ensure that convicted sex offenders and predators are monitored
closely, and that public information available about an individual
offender will be available from the Sex Offender Tracking Officer.
The Sex Offender Tracking Detective Johnny Lawson, will
answer applicable questions about sex offenders registered as
Melbourne residents and may be reached via phone at
409-3419 or by e-mail to
jlawson@melbourneflorida.org. Written correspondence can be
